LA County Library Partners with Grammy Award-Winning Artist Laufey to Launch Exclusive Limited Edition Library Card as Lead Up to Library Card Sign-Up Month
Over 500 Cards Distributed at A Very Laufey Day Launch Event
LA County Library celebrated a major success at the A Very Laufey Day event on August 24, at Gloria Molina Grand Park, where more than 500 people signed up for its new LA County Library X Laufey Book Club library card in under two hours. The exclusive card, created in collaboration with Grammy Award-winning artist Laufey and her Laufey Book Club, is available at all LA County Library locations while supplies last.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the incredibly talented Laufey on this exclusive, limited-edition library card,” said Dr. Skye Patrick, County Librarian and Director of LA County Library. “This unique partnership bridges the worlds of music and storytelling, celebrating the joy of reading, creativity, and connection. We are excited to introduce this card as we enter Library Card Sign-Up Month.”
The card serves as a keepsake for fans and library lovers, while also opening access to LA County Library’s wide range of free resources.
With just one card, customers can access:
- A vast collection of books, eBooks, and audiobooks
- Streaming music, movies, and TV shows
- Laptop and Wi-Fi hotspot lending
- Free online tutoring and homework help
- Skill-building courses and career development tools
- Research databases, test prep resources, and more
This year marked Laufey’s first collaboration with public libraries, with LA County Library securing the exclusive Southern California partnership. Each of LA County Library’s 86 locations received 50 cards for distribution, and demand has been strong. Supplies for these specialty library cards are limited and once a library location runs out, the card will no longer be available.
If a location runs out of the limited edition card, customers can still sign up for a library card during Library Card Sign-Up Month and choose from designs available at all LA County Library locations.
Pictures and video of the launch event are available on the Library’s Instagram account.
