LA County Library Announces Winners of 45th Annual Bookmark Contest
LA County Library is excited to announce the winners of its 45th Annual Bookmark Contest, a beloved tradition that has encouraged artistic expression and a love for reading since 1980. This year’s contest drew an impressive response, with over 10,000 submissions from young artists across Los Angeles County, each reflecting their passion for books and libraries.
“Celebrating the creativity and imagination of our youth through the Bookmark Contest is always inspiring,” stated Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger. “These young artists show us just how powerful books and art can be together. I’m very proud to support this special contest that encourages curiosity, reading, and self-expression in a meaningful way.”
“Books and art have the power to inspire, and this contest beautifully brings them together,” said Skye Patrick, County Librarian of LA County Library. “We are proud to showcase the incredible talent of our young artists and encourage their continued love for reading.”
Celebrating the Winners
Each library selected local winners in four grade-level categories:
- Kindergarten – Grade 2
- Grades 3 – 5
- Grades 6 – 8
- Grades 9 – 12
These local winners were then reviewed by the LA County Board of Supervisors, who selected 20 grand prize winners—one from each grade category in each of the County’s five Supervisorial Districts.
Winning Bookmarks Now Available at All Library Locations
Starting today, the winning bookmark designs are available in print at all LA County Library locations, allowing visitors to take home and enjoy these artistic creations. The winning artists were honored at a special recognition ceremony at the LA County Board of Supervisors meeting today.
A Legacy of Literacy and Creativity
For over four decades, the Bookmark Contest has been a cornerstone of LA County Library’s mission to foster literacy, creativity, and artistic expression among young readers. The Library extends its heartfelt congratulations to this year’s winners and a huge thank you to every participant who shared their talent.
