Get Safe’s Safety Training and Risk Reduction Program

Courses for youth and adults to help address and prevent bullying

Sad child on ground with Stop Bullying written in chalkWith an engaging and dynamic presentation style, the Get Safe Safety Training and Risk Reduction (STARR) Program has helped to build safer, stronger, more inclusive communities. Get Safe empowers all ages and abilities to become more aware of their own personal safety through prevention techniques that help identify and respond to potentially dangerous situations. Starting in January, LA County Library is hosting several 60-minute Get Safe courses across our libraries. Expert Get Safe trainers will lead audiences in fun and interactive activities that will teach strategies to prevent, intervene, and recover if they have any encounter with bullying behavior. Course offerings include a Back Off Buddy Bully Prevention Program for youth that will be conducted at the same time as a course for parents/caregivers.
