Let’s Celebrate National Library Week
What is National Library Week?
National Library Week (NLW) is April 7 – 13, 2024. It is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries, the contributions of library workers, and promote library use and support.
National Library Week is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and has been observed in libraries across the Unites Sates each April since 1958. NLW has spread all over the world in different countries including the UK, Australia, and Jamaica.
What is this year’s NLW theme?
Each year, National Library Week has a theme, and for 2024 that theme is: “Ready, Set, Library!” The idea is that, in our always-online world, libraries give us a green light to something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and focus on what matters most.

Calling all library kids and library grown-ups! Celebrate National Library week with a special edition of Trailblazers in Conversation featuring Mychal Threets, viral librarian and literacy advocate. Mychal and LA County Library Director Skye Patrick will discuss Mychal’s journey from working as a librarian to social media fame and establishing a collaboration with PBS Kids.
