Trailblazers in Conversation with Edward Lee

LA County Library invites the community to get ready for an unforgettable conversation with Celebrity Chef and award-winning author, Edward Lee. We’ll explore the intersections of food, culture, and identity on November 14 at 6 pm on Zoom.

LA County Library CEO Skye Patrick will sit down with Chef Lee to discuss his latest culinary masterpiece, Bourbon Land: A Spirited Love Letter to My Old Kentucky Whiskey. This new release, celebrated as one of the “Best New Cookbooks of Spring 2024″ by Eater, Epicurious, and Food & Wine, features 50 irresistible recipes that highlight Kentucky whiskey’s bold flavors. The book serves as an exciting follow-up to Lee’s award-winning Buttermilk Graffiti.

“Edward Lee’s contributions to the literary world are a testament to the power of food as a storyteller, a cultural connector, and a reflection of identity. Whether you’re a fan of his television appearances, a foodie, or someone who simply loves engaging in meaningful conversations, this event will offer something for everyone,” said Skye Patrick, County Librarian & CEO, LA County Library. “We’re excited to offer this enriching experience to our community.”

Chef Lee, the culinary mastermind behind 610 Magnolia in Louisville and culinary director of Succotash in National Harbor, Maryland, and Penn Quarter, Washington, DC, has also made his mark on television. Lee recently competed in Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars and earned an Emmy nomination for his role in The Mind of a Chef. Additionally, he hosted the feature documentary Fermented and founded The Lee Initiative, which focuses on promoting diversity, equity, and sustainability in the restaurant industry.

Don’t miss this rare chance to hear from one of the culinary industry’s most influential voices. Whether you’re a food lover, an aspiring chef, or simply curious about the role of food in shaping cultural identity, this event promises to be a truly inspiring and insightful evening.
