Event Details

Read A Night Divided by Jennifer A. Nielsen, and join us for discussion, an art activity, and snacks! You’ll even be able to see a piece of the real Berlin Wall thanks to our friends at the Wende Museum.

Gerta’s family is separated by the big wall that divides West Berlin from Soviet-controlled East Berlin. She and her mother and brother are trapped in the East where their home is bugged and every friend and neighbor is a possible spy. When she sees her father across the wall one day singing a familiar song and making digging motions, she thinks maybe he’s sending her a message. But if she so much as talks about escape with anyone it could mean prison—or worse—for her and her whole family.

For grades 6 – 12
