Maiden is the story of how Tracy Edwards, a 24-year-old cook on charter boats, became the skipper of the first ever all-female crew to enter the prestigious Whitbread Round the World yacht race in 1989. Tracy’s inspirational dream was opposed on all sides: by her male competitors, the chauvinistic yachting press, and potential sponsors, who feared her crew would die at sea.
