Event Details

Topanga Library is hosting David Ford, Senior Government Relations Manager at Southern California Edison, for a presentation on how to prepare for a Public Safety Power Shutoff. In order to keep communities safe, SCE may need to turn off power as a preventative measure of last resort if the utility reasonably believes that there is an imminent and significant risk that strong winds may topple power lines or cause major vegetation-related issues leading to increased risk of fire. It is important to prepare an emergency plan in advance in the event your family is affected by a power shutoff – or any other emergency. This is also an opportunity to sign up as a Medical Baseline Customer. To be eligible, you or someone who lives with you full-time must require use of a medical device. If a rare Stage 3 Emergency is declared, Medical Baseline Customers will automatically be contacted with a pre-recorded telephone message.
