Event Details

On The Brink tells the story of a once-thriving African American community in Seattle’s Central District now on the brink of vanishing due to change that is tearing apart the social fabric of their neighborhood. The film tells a universal story of a struggle to hold on to a sense of community in the face of change, and finding hope in a time of despair. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion about lessons from gentrification in Seattle that can be applied in shaping the future of Los Angeles. The panel will include Makeda Easter, L A Times Arts & Culture Journalist. With opening remarks from the film’s producer, Jeff Shulman.
