Javier Hernandez is a cartoonist and educator from Whittier, CA. Growing up in a bilingual home, at an early age he was inspired by his older brother Albert to collect comics and draw. Since 1998 Javier has been publishing his own comic book creations, his most well known series being EL MUERTO, a story featuring a blend of Aztec mythology and Mexican folklore. In 2007 a film was produced starring Wilmer Valderrama as El Muerto, with Javier serving as Associate Producer. In 2011 Javier co-founded the Latino Comics Expo, the country’s first convention dedicated to spotlighting Latino creators in comic books, graphic novels, animation and related popular arts. Join us for this lively conversation about comics and culture.
