Event Details

In honor of George Attla and the Fur Rondy Open World Championship Race, we are screening Attla. Attla was a Native Alaskan (Koyukon Athabascan) and world renown dogsled racer with a career record that spanned over 50 years. Despite having one good leg, he became a ten-time Fur Rondy Champion, eight-time North American Open Champion, and won nine International Sled Dog Association unlimited class medals. This film follows Attla’s achievements and his quest to train his grandnephew to compete in dogsled sprint races, races that now have less Native competitors. Following the screening, attendees are encouraged to participate in a small discussion about the issues and topics addressed in the film.

Light refreshments will be provided
