Event Details

In celebration of American Indian Heritage Month, Seminole Maroon descendant, Phil “Pompey Bruner” Fixico, will educate us about his ancestry, and the Maroon communities of the Western Hemisphere that were formed when Indigenous and African people united in resistance to European colonization. He will also provide information about his participation at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. The program will include film presentations and performance art.
