Make the Most of Your Virtual Library

This year, students of all ages are preparing to engage with curriculum, classmates, and teachers in new ways. No matter where your classroom is this year, rest assured, LA County Library is here to help! There are many digital school materials and online resources that can help students succeed and thrive.

Have a homework question? Head over to Brainfuse for free on-demand access to live online tutoring in math, science, reading and writing, social studies, PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP, state standardized tests, and even a language lab for those learning Spanish or Mandarin—just select your grade and subject matter to be connected to a tutor. The 24-Hour Writing Lab provides constructive feedback on submitted essays and other forms of writing. Brainfuse offers many ways to learn, including resources for ELL and ESL learners.

Dive deep into a subject with our database collection that ranges in topics from literature and history, to chemistry and medicine. Explore encyclopedias, newspapers, archives, reference collections, and other research and learning resources for free.

In addition to these learning tools, students can check out eBooks on OverDrive with collections catered just for Kids and Teens. Hoopla offers audiobooks, eBooks, and educational films for all ages that can be checked out immediately without waiting. And Kanopy Kids offers on-demand streaming videos to learn languages, explore science and math, learn tales from history, and more!

Explore more with weekly Virtual Programming, like Maker Mondays filled with DIY and STEAM activities, or Arts and Culture Thursdays to help embrace your inner film critic, DJ, dancer, diva, or art aficionado. Or check out our Activities at Home page for Activity Ideas, DIY library programs, and topic-based resource lists for all ages!

If you don’t have a library card already, a parent or guardian 18 or over can apply for a Digital Library Card to access all of these learning resources and more!
